What kind of preaching do you like? How do you discern between good and bad preaching, between rich and poor preaching? What kind of preaching is the best for us? These are important questions. When the people of Israel left Egypt and were on their way to the promised land, they received preaching from Moses. Also, as they listened to the book of Genesis, they heard preaching in it. This preaching was totally different from everything they had always heard in Egypt. They may not always have liked it. But they much needed it. Upcoming Sunday, we read how sin came into the world through listening to and believing bad preaching. Also, we read how God would not leave us there. We read Genesis 2:25-3:15. Celebration of the Lord’s Supper
Lord willing we will celebrate the Lord’s Supper in upcoming Sunday’s service. The Lord Jesus has instituted this celebration to strengthen those who have come to faith in him. The Lord’s Supper is not meant for those who do not yet profess faith in him. Therefore we ask gently that only those who have made a profession of faith and who have been baptised and have come to believe from the heart in Jesus Christ will partake. This does not mean that you are not welcome if you are not yet ready to partake of the Lord’s Supper. Everyone is very welcome. And even if you do not yet partake, you may receive a great blessing during this service. So we wholeheartedly invite everyone to come. Also, if you want to make a profession of faith and – if you have not yet been baptised as a child, if you want to be baptised – do not hesitate to let us know, so that we can help you prepare for that.
