Advent faith preached and sealed
Advent means arrival, or coming. Long before Christ was born in Bethlehem, his arrival and coming had been announced. Also, the reasons why he would come had been announced. It was because we need a Saviour from our sins. Why do we need a Saviour from our sins? Because, if we are left in our sins, we will perish in the Lord’s judgement. Upcoming Sunday we read on in Genesis. In Genesis 5, we read about Enoch. From the letter of Jude we know that Enoch preached the coming of the Lord. Enoch foresaw that the Flood would come. He preached repentance and faith in the Saviour. Before the flood, we read that people became very old. But of Enoch, we read that he was `taken up’, when he was much younger than all the others. We will see how Enoch, like Abel, prefigured something of Jesus Christ. As Abel prefigured how Jesus would die, Enoch prefigured how Jesus would ascend. You are so welcome to join this service and to see how this message from Genesis 5 is relevant for us today!
