An undeserved cup

Can you forgive yourself? Can you accept yourself? Are you able to think about yourself with self-confidence? Some are easily able to do that. Others aren’t. Even not at all. Is it better, if you are to do these things, than if you are not able? If you are able, you life may be easier. What would the Bible say about these things? Firstly, the Bible tells us that a judgement about us and about what we are worth is not ultimately to be made by us. It is God’s judgement, whereon our lives depend. What, do you believe, is God’s judgement about you?

Upcoming Sunday we read one of the most holy and most impressive passages of the entire Bible. We read how Jesus instituted Holy Communion and how he prayed afterwards in Gethsemane. Twice we read about a cup. First the cup that Jesus gave to his disciples, which was the cup of salvation. Those who were sorrowful about their sinfulness and unworthiness received it from Jesus, without any merit of themselves, without deserving it. Then how could Jesus, on behalf of his Father, give them and give believers today that cup of salvation? It is because Jesus was ready to take that other cup. The cup of God’s wrath against our sin. Through prayer, Jesus was made ready to embrace that cup, which he didn’t deserve, willingly. These things are the core of the Christian Gospel. In believing these and in the meditation on these things lies all the joy, the rest and the confidence of true believers. You are so welcome to join and to learn more!

Treasure Seekers

Last week at Treasure Seekers, the children saw Jesus’s power over even death.  This week, Mark’s gospel continues with Jesus’s power to provide for his people.  Please can Explorers kids bring their bibles as usual?
