Dwelling in the Presence of God Almighty
When we find ourselves in a crisis or in a dangerous situation, we usually look for a hiding place where we can rest and be safe. The author of Psalm 91 has good news for any person who needs safety and protection; God Almighty himself is a shield and shelter for any person who is looking for safety and protection: ‘He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.’ But what does it mean to dwell in the shelter of God Almighty?
Jesus himself has shown how we can live in the presence of God Almighty even in difficult situations (Matthew 4:1-11). He resisted the devil’s temptations by dwelling in God’s words, and by obeying and living God’s words. As believers we are called to follow Jesus’ example by dwelling in God’s words and in his presence. Jesus’ victory over the devil guarantees the victory of the believers over sin and temptations and in dangerous and traumatic circumstances. Psalm 91 foreshadows this victory in Jesus himself and in everyone who believes in him and follows him.

TREASURE SEEKERS
King Nebuchadnezzar came to know that “the Most High rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he will” (Daniel chapter 4).
Will his descendant Belshazzar also revere the Lord? This week at Treasure Seekers, the kids will see what happens!
Title: The Hand
Text: Daniel 5:1-31
Big Idea: Daniel interpreted God’s judgment on Belshazzar for using the sacred items from the Lord’s temple to worship false idols.
Aim: To teach that God will not be mocked, but will judge the proud who oppose him.
The memory verse for the Daniel series is: “We must obey God rather than human beings!” (Acts 5:29a)
