Equipped to stand firm

We hear much these days about wars and tumults, about nation rising against nation, kingdom against kingdom. And we should not be surprised. Jesus foretold these things (Luke 21:9-10). It can make you concerned. Will we also one day be involved in conflict, in war? As a true Christian, however, you should be aware that you are already involved in a heavy war. Those who born of God and therefore no longer desire to walk `following the course of this world’ (Ephesians 2:1-3) will soon enough experience that they are under spiritual attack. That is not something vague, only for the very spiritual Christian. It has everything to do with what we have been learning in the past weeks. To break with your anger issues, to stop with sexual immorality, to live a life of prayer and Psalm singing, to be a submitting wife, a loving husband, an obedient child – and so on… it seems far easier just to go on as you were used to. But those who have read Paul’s letter to the Ephesians and who have believed what the Spirit communicates in that letter, know that they should wage the good warfare. Not only should they. They can. Sure, they stumble at times and need forgiveness again and again. But they are not doomed to be losers. In Christ they are equipped to stand firm.

Upcoming Sunday we read Ephesians 6:10-24. You are so welcome to join and to learn more!
