Great Commandment

We seem to live in an increasingly chaotic world. However, this world is not so different from the world in which the disciples of Jesus were commissioned to go. This Sunday we read from the Gospel of Mattew how Jesus summoned them to go to all nations to tell the Gospel. Who actually are the ones that Christ wants to send to the nations? Where do they have their ability, strength and joy from? Does the church today have the same task that Christ gave to his apostles? Is the missionary task of our church more than simply be a salt and a light in today’s world? Just to bloom where we are planted?

In the sermon I want to touch a couple of these questions. How is it possible to obey Christ’s commandment in a chaotic and polarized world? ‘I have been given all power in heaven and on earth’, He says, and ‘I am with you all the days till the end of the world’, words that have power to help and comfort us today!

I look forward to seeing you in the New Church!

Title: The King’s Growing Kingdom
Text: Mark 4:26-34
Big Idea: Jesus tells two parables to teach that God is the one who grows his kingdom, even from the smallest beginnings.
Aim: To teach that we can be confident that God will grow his kingdom when we tell people the good news about Jesus, no matter how insignificant it seems at the time.
