On following Jesus
Every year on our way to Easter we stumble over the betrayal of Peter, Jesus’ most loyal friend and follower. In coming Sunday’s passage, we see how Peter tries to save his life but ends up losing it. Jesus on the other hand, gives His life in order to be vindicated. He is the Messiah, we are his followers. As we follow Jesus on our way to Easter, we reflect on two important questions: who is Jesus? And, what does it mean to be a disciple?

Easter is approaching! Treasure Seekers continues to look at Jesus as King through the eyes of Peter, one of Jesus’ closest friends. We explore Peter’s growing understanding of what it means for Jesus to be a King and a friend.
This Sunday, 21 March, is the third lesson in our series The Amazing King. The Bible passage is John 13:1-17. The Big Idea is that Jesus shows his great love for his disciples by washing their feet. He did this to help them understand how his death would cleanse them.
Here is a video telling the Bible story. Can you help your child(ren) make the connection with the cross?
The kids’ song is: Have You Heard About Jesus?
The memory verse for the series is:
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5 [NIV]
