The Lord’s attributes: a source of prayer

Prayer does not begin with us, but with the awareness of God. Throughout history we see many times that the church fell asleep and lost its awareness of God. There were still sermons, songs and prayers. But the awareness of God seemed almost to be gone. But when God sent times of revival, people again became aware of God. The holy and living God. The coming Lord. His holiness and his mercy, his power and his preciousness. You could hear it and taste it, in the sermons, the singing and the prayers.

Upcoming Sunday we read Psalm 139. In this Psalm we find a person who is aware of God. He meditates upon the Lord’s attributes and responds with powerful prayer. You are so welcome to join and learn more!

TREASURE SEEKERS

What happens next to Joseph?  This week at Treasure Seekers the kids see that, like Joseph, they can trust God in difficult situations because he is with them to bless.

During the ICF Delft service, children leave for their own Bible teaching at Treasure Seekers part-way through the service, after the kids’ song, and rejoin for the final song of the service.  The creche room is also available for 0-2 year olds. For those not attending ICFD in person, we’ll continue to send materials by email.

This Sunday the kids’ Bible passage is Genesis 39:1-23.  The Big Idea is that because Joseph refuses to be tempted by Potiphar’s wife, she lies to have him put in prison, but even there he is blessed by God. Here is a video telling the story.  The kids’ song is: 5020. Faithful Joseph. It’s a familiar tune to many, and at the service the music team will lead us in V1 and V5.

The memory verse for the Joseph series is:

“You tried to harm me, but God made it turn out for the best.” Genesis 50:20 [CEV]
