Upcoming Sunday for the Chinese world a new year starts. What will be new in this new year? Let’s think of our worship! Worldwide in the previous century the church has seen a lot of `worship-wars’. There has been much discussion in many churches about what to sing and how and how not to sing and what not. Such discussions are not new. Throughout the history of the church there have been several `worship-wars’. Even in the Bible we find a reference to such a `worship-war’: in John 4 we read about Samaritans and Jews who were divided on where the appropriate place to worship was. When a Samaritan woman ended up in a conversation with Jesus, she asked him about this. And Jesus connected her question with her life, her disappointments, her shame, her sin – and taught her about a new way of worshipping God.
