Steering a sailboat is counter-intuitive – you push the tiller the opposite way to the way you want to go. The genuine Christian life is something like that. Its description and instructions at first sight may look like these will ruin your life. But the opposite is true. It is where and how true living starts. Upcoming Sunday we will begin to look at what the apostle Paul says about marriage. Obviously Paul thinks his teachings about marriage are relevant for everyone – not only for the married. And what he says, in particular to the women, can easily be misunderstood and rejected – it is not hard to stumble over these words. Yet, with the help of the Holy Spirit, we may listen carefully and be amazed and deeply touched by what it really says – again: a message relevant for everyone, not only for the married.
