On Sunday we will read from Hebrews 1. According to the church calendar, it was Ascension Day last Thursday. What is the meaning of Ascension Day for today? It is more than just the fact that Jesus ascended to heaven, to the Father. It tells us that He is King. We commemorate His victory and entry into heaven, where He takes His place at the right hand of the Father. And from that place He reigns. He is involved in your and my life. He does not lean back on His throne, but is concerned with your and my needs. He is concerned with the suffering in this world. He prays for us to the Father. He is an ambassador. Seated at the right hand of God. What a comfort!
