Equipped to Maintain Peace I
For some jobs there is specific clothing. Think of a fireman, a policeman, a soldier. Imagine a fireman who has quit his job and has signed the contract for policeman. It is inappropriate for such a person to wear any longer the clothing of the fireman. As he has a new job now, he should wear the appropriate clothes.
To become a Christian means even more than to have a new job. It means that you received a new life. You are a new creation. Born of God. Now there is peace between you and God, because of the blood of the cross. This means a big change. Things that the whole world has more or less accepted, that are common and to which we ourselves were very used, are no longer appropriate. It is time for a new lifestyle. Peace with God implies that you can no longer have peace with any form of impurity. Upcoming Sunday we will learn more about this, as we read on in Paul’s letter to the Ephesians (Chapter 4:17-24). You are so welcome to learn more!
