READY FOR TAKE-OFF

A few more weeks and for many among us a new season will start. Do you feel ready for it? Some of you are looking for it. Others may say: please, don’t even talk about it, I am still in my holiday-modus…

During the past weeks I have read and reread the book of Numbers several times. Lord willing, upcoming Sunday we will start a sermon series on the book of Numbers. Why – of all biblebooks – Numbers? In the book of Numbers Moses retells how Israel, after a long vacation, a long Holy-Day at Mt Sinai, finally would take off and travel to the promised land. They had to prepare for a travel through the desert, they had to be ready for war… Maybe they thought: don’t even talk about it, let us stay here a little longer. But in the first 10 chapters of the book of Numbers God’s people receive everything they need for the road that lies ahead. The Holy Spirit urged Moses to write these things for God’s people in later times.

For us, for you as well. Don’t miss it and be there! Looking forward to see you all again!

The children at ICF Delft have been learning how God chose and rescued a people to live as his own.  He promises them a place to live.  Now the kids will see how God keeps that promise! The new series follows the Israelites as they journey from Mount Sinai to the land God had promised his people.  It begins with God’s instructions to Moses for building the tabernacle so that God could live amongst them. But the Israelites kept turning away — they decided for themselves what God was like and made him out to be a golden calf; they refused to trust his promises even when they saw how good the land was; they rejected God’s chosen leaders; and complained constantly.  Even Moses disobeyed!God punished them to show his people that he is a holy God, but he was also merciful each time and always saved them. The series ends with Moses reminding the people of God’s goodness throughout their forty years in the desert and warning them not to disobey now that they have reached the edge of the Promised Land.Lesson Title: The TabernacleText: Exodus 25:1-22, 29:44-46Big Idea: God lived with his people as their ruler, but he was too holy for them to come near him so a special tent was needed.Teaching Aim: To understand that while the Israelites needed the tabernacle so as to be close to God, we can have God’s Spirit live in us because of Jesus.
The memory verse for the Exodus-to-Joshua series is: “Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.” (Joshua 21:45)
