Surprising blessing
We all want to be happy and feel blessed. But when are we truly blessed? What is the source of deepest happiness? Is it when the good things come to us and the bad things stay away? When that happens to you, it is certainly something to give thanks for. However, in biblical terms, it doesn’t automatically mean that you are blessed. Jesus calls us to repent and to follow him on the narrow way, the way of self-denial and cross bearing. Often this will turn out not to be an easy way. Sometimes you will feel inclined to give up, to drop out of Jesus’ wisdom school. You don’t feel happy. Upcoming Sunday, we continue to read the letter of James. James says that the one is blessed who remains steadfast under trial. We will learn more about why that was said and how that encourages and helps us. You are so welcome to come and learn more.
Celebration of the Lord’s Supper
Upcoming Sunday we will celebrate the Lord’s Supper. Not only by words, but also through the sacrament of bread and wine the Lord wants to strengthen us in our faith. All who are professing and baptised believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, also if you are a member of good standing of another bible believing church, are welcome to partake. If you have not yet established your covenant with the Lord, we gently ask you not yet to partake, though you are of course very welcome to join the service. Anyone who wants to prepare to make a profession of faith and – if not yet baptised, to be baptised, is most welcome to let me or one of the elders know about this. Then we can start making preparations for this.
