THE CONFRONTING AND COMFORTING MINISTRY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

What do you celebrate with Pentecost? Someone may have asked you this question recently. What is you answer? Maybe you even wonder yourself: what do I celebrate with Pentecost? The meaning of Christmas is clear – the birth of Jesus – and so is the meaning of Easter – the resurrection of Jesus. And yes, we know that Pentecost is the celebration of the arrival and the outpouring of God’s Holy Spirit. But to grasp what that was and is all about seems harder. Upcoming Sunday we will see how both the Old Testament and John’s Gospel are extremely helpful, not only to understand the meaning of Pentecost, but also to participate in celebrating it as a feast. You are so welcome to join and learn more!

TREASURE SEEKERS

For Pentecost Sunday, the kids at Treasure Seekers pause their study of Judges — and how it shows our need of radical change in our hearts — to look at Acts chapter 2.  The Holy Spirit enables people to trust in Jesus, and be changed from within.  Kids aged 3-7 are welcome at Discoverers, and aged 7-11 at Explorers!Lesson Title: The Holy Spirit ArrivesText: Acts 2:1-41
Big Idea: As promised, the Holy Spirit comes and enables the gospel to be heard in Jerusalem. All who respond by repenting and trusting in Jesus also receive the Holy Spirit.
Aim: To see that we need the Holy Spirit to understand and respond to the good news about Jesus. Only with him can we spread this gospel to others.
The memory verse for the Judges series is “The Lord is near to all who call on him in truth.” (Psalm 145:18)
