Upcoming Sunday, Lord willing, eight persons will make a profession of faith in the Immanuelkerk. We gratefully acknowledge God’s work in their lives. Four of them were baptised as children. With their profession they glorify God’s faithfulness. As God made them partakers of that which baptism signifies. Four of them will be baptised on their profession of faith. As a seal of the inward reality of which they became partakers, by faith. This service is a great moment in the life of our church. We read Mark 14:50-15:5. In this passage we hear that Jesus by his witness to the religious leaders and to Pontius Pilate, made the good confession about himself – though it would cost him his life. In this passage we also hear that Peter failed to acknowledge that he belonged to Jesus. Though earlier, he had made the good confession about who Jesus is.
