The praying church – All-Age Service
Upcoming Sunday we finish our series on James’ letter. We know with what kind of afflictions the early churches struggled soon enough after Pentecost. Due to persecutions and famine Christians were scattered everywhere. Yes, they preached the good news everywhere also. But it was not always that easy to handle their afflictions. Neither had it always been easy to get along well with each other. James has said a lot about how Christians should not treat each other. But in the end of his letter, he came to the positives. When we ask for the Spirit, the Spirit of wisdom – what will a church look like where the Spirit is at work? In James 5:7-20 we learn three things: 1) Christians will be patient, 2) Christians will keep their promises – no need to swear, 3) Christians will constantly be in prayer. About that last aspect you will learn more – Lord willing – in the preaching of upcoming Sunday. This service will be an all-age service. So all children will stay in the whole service and there will be a worksheet for them. If you have children, could you bring some colored pencils for them? The preaching will be translated in Dutch.
