Generosity – the art of giving away

‘You will be more blessed in giving than in receiving’, Jesus once said. Why is that so? Sometimes it seems easier to give away than to receive, because to receive might show dependency and weakness at the side of the receiver and a position of power at the side of the giver. However if you are able to receive thankfully, you can be generous.

Do you know the joy of giving away? ‘Giving’ relates to many aspects. Not only money, or possessions, but also: time, personal attention, wisdom, knowledge, care, space.

The apostle Paul said to the believers in Thessalonica (Greece) that he didn’t only share the Gospel with them, but also his life. He was as a father and a mother to them.

It is all about God who loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son. But we also come across an attitude of pretending with alarming consequences. Important to realize that there is a lot of counterfeit in generosity…
