The story of the talents

A man left and entrusted his assets (‘talents’) to his three employees. After a long time the man returned and settled accounts with them. The story of the talents is about what we should do with our lives (or talents) in the time before Jesus returns. It raises all kinds of questions, both in our time and in that of Jesus. What is a talent? Why does one person immediately starts using it enthusiastically? And why is another person too scared to do the same? And what does Jesus mean when He concludes that whoever ‘has’ will be given more while whoever ‘does not have’, even what they have will be taken from them?
