‘Unless you change’

radical discipleship

In the famous novel of Jane Austen ‘Pride and prejudice’ (film version 2005) relationships are governed by bias and feelings of superiority. The risk of pride is everywhere. This Sunday we continue reading in the book of Daniel in the church service. In chapter 4 we meet an arrogant Babylonian king brought on his knees by a voice from heaven. ‘God opposes the proud, but He gives grace to the humble.’

Followers of Jesus are prone to seeking importance as well. At one occasion Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.’ He took a little child as an example. Can we learn to be humble and assertive at the same time? See, hear in the service on Sunday 7th of October, a special service because of the dedication of two little children.
