COMING HOME

Where are you at home, and where are you safe? These are important questions for most of us, in particular when we live ‘between two worlds’. What do the words of Jesus mean to us when He speaks about coming home. Jesus indicates to His disciples that He is going to the house of the Father to prepare a place for them. Jesus himself is coming home after his mission. He is a kind of ‘quartermaster’ (which practice is used in military operations). But how can the disciples continue on earth in Jesus’ absence? He is a kind of advocate, pleading with his Father. He pleads for them, and  asks his Father to send the Spirit, who is another advocate on earth. Key question: why can we trust that we are safe – for now and for eternity’ when we believe in Jesus, that He is the way, the truth and the life that we need?
