THE CONFRONTING AND COMFORTING MINISTRY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

What do you celebrate with Pentecost? Someone may have asked you this question recently. What is you answer? Maybe you even wonder yourself: what do I celebrate with Pentecost? The meaning of Christmas is clear – the birth of Jesus – and so is the meaning of Easter – the resurrection of Jesus. And yes, we know that Pentecost is the celebration of the arrival and the outpouring of God’s Holy Spirit. But to grasp what that was and is all about seems harder. This Sunday we will see how both the Old Testament and John’s Gospel are extremely helpful, not only to understand the meaning of Pentecost, but also to participate in celebrating it as a feast.
