God’s perspective

Commenting on a famous photograph of planet Earth taken by Voyager I, from a record distance of 6 billion kilometer – Earth’s apparent size is less than a pixel – the American astronomer and author Carl Sagan said that astronomy is a “humbling experience”. So is reading Psalm 2. This old Jewish poem pictures life on earth from a God’s eye perspective. It also challenges our image of Jesus as a friendly religious leader. He is God’s agent in ruling the nations. And that is good news. Psalm 2 ends well: “Blessed are all who take refuge in him.”
