ICF DELFT WELCOMING SERVICES

The International Christian Fellowship Delft is a friendly church, warmly welcoming students and other internationals. To welcome those who are new at Delft, we offer three welcoming services. You are so welcome, regardless (non-)religious background, to join, meet friends and hear inspiring music and impactful words, in the monumental Nieuwe Kerk.

BIG PICTURE BIBLE COURSE

Last autumn we offered the Life Explored course. This course is especially for those who are completely new to Christianity and interested to investigate and learn a bit more. Soon, we want to offer the Big Picture Bible course. This course is for everyone who has begun to get a bit acquainted with Christianity – however, still you may have many questions. The Big Picture Bible course is a very helpful course to get oversight and insight concerning what it is all about. Even those who have been Christians for a longer time, may find the course very helpful. We still need help to organise the course. To prepare food, etcetera. If you are interested to participate and/or help, or have questions, send an email to ds.josslager@gmail.com, or talk to pastor Jos when you see him in church.

PRAYER EVENING

On Saturday 21 January there is an evening of praise and prayer in the Nieuwe Kerk, organised by ICF Delft, Redeemer Delft, Mount Zion, University church Delft, Celebration church and Student Life. The
evening starts 19.30 – we would be very happy if you could attend.

Welcoming service “From grumbling to joy”

To arrive to a new country, a new city, starting a new study or job is great and exciting, isn’t it?! Once you have arrived it may not all be as easy and exciting as you initially thought it would be. You would not be the first to feel stressed and inclined to grumble.

Life Explored short course: What’s the best gift God could give you?

We all want to be happy.  Why is lasting happiness so hard to find?

Life Explored is an informal and relaxed seven-week series for anyone who wants to find contentment and happiness in life.

International Christian Fellowship Delft is running the course again in 2022.  It is completely free.  It doesn’t matter if you don’t consider yourself to be religious, and you don’t need to know anything about the Bible.  You can ask any questions you like, or you can just sit and listen.

Whoever you are, whatever you’re thinking, Life Explored is a place for you to discover the secret to true contentment.

Thursday evenings, 7-9pm with dinner, video, discussion at Immanuelkerk, Schoemakerstraat 1, Delft

Russia and Ukraine – How to respond

Now that the Covid-crisis almost seems to come to an end we see a new, big crisis that has only just begun. And no one knows how it will end.
Russian troops, invading Ukraine. It is almost impossible not to pay attention to what happens. It shocks us and we feel concerns and compassion with people who now find themselves into a new war. There are three things we can do now. First, we must focus on God in this crisis and find our rest in Him. For this, I recommend to listen to this sermon in our sermon library: https://icfdelft.nl/sermons/complete-safety-through-faith-in-christ/
Secondly, we should pray. People in Ukraine need our prayers. The Word commands us to pray for all who are in high positions (I Tim.2:1-4).
Thirdly, we may come to see that our compassion should become concrete and be translated in a willingness to help. Let us pray that we will be open and ready for that. Last, but not least: we must remind ourselves that Jesus foretold that these things would and should happen and that we should not be terrified (Luke 21:9-19). He is in control, his kingdom is surely coming, it is unstoppable. His kingdom is a kingdom of peace.
Let the things that happen now, make us pray the more: your kingdom come!

Studentlife is launching *Mission Possible*

Studentlife is launching *Mission Possible* after the Christmas holiday. Mission Possible is designed to give more structure to our outreach activities and makes it more concrete for new people to join. It consists of 4 sessions. The first will consist of a training on our methods and how to have meaningful conversations. Then we’ll have two outreach sessions after which there is time for reflection. Please invite people to this and sign up via this link: qrco.de/bcdSU0

Registration Check in – Check out

Could you imagine that you would be part of a family and that you would leave your family without saying goodbye? Or could you imagine that you would be part of a family and on a certain day there is someone at the table you have never seen – and that you would just eat together, without introducing yourself to one another? I couldn’t. In a family, you know each other’s names. Normally you know the names of your brothers and your sisters. Now the church is not just like a family – it IS a family. The church is not a grocery. In the grocery there is no need to introduce yourself to one another. But since the church is a family, there is this need.

As ICF, we want to keep the record of those who want to be part of the fellowship. And of the way you are connected. You can be part of it as a member. But also as a guest-member. You can even just connect without membership, even when you do not yet see yourself as a Christian at all. On our website we have a helpful tool for this registration:  https://icfdelft.nl/about/#check-in-check-out. This is not just about formality. It is about being a family. I am aware that being a family can feel threatening as well. Sometimes anonymity has advantages. And of course, if you want to get to know ICF firstly a bit anonymously, you are welcome. But making yourself known has many more advantages. So we encourage you not to wait, but to register and to check in and, when you leave, to check out. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask these!
