Why pride leads to problem

Believe in yourself! ‘Be proud of yourself, just as you are!’ `Do what your heart believes that is good, follow your heart!’ Statements like these are not just statements. They are a modern creed. A creed that is shared by many. Many have come to believe that we ourselves are the best place to look at, for what we should trust, what should decide what is good and wrong and what we should follow. The Bible disagrees. It says such pride leads to problems and is a problem itself. Even those who know that may not be inclined to agree. Neither did Peter, when Jesus spoke to him and encouraged him to be humble and not to believe in himself. Peter didn’t agree. Later on he learnt his lesson. In the letter he wrote he shares what he learnt and what we should better pay attention to.

You are very welcome to join this service!

Because of the decreasing numbers of corona infections, the rules for church services are changing. From coming Sunday, we can invite more than 30 people in church.

If you want to come to the church, you can express your interest by filling out the google form before Friday midnight. On Saturday you will then get a personal invitation to join.

Treasure Seekers – in person

Who can come into God’s kingdom?  The kids will find out in the new Treasure Seekers series “God on Mission”.  We’ll see God’s salvation plan from Genesis to Revelation, and how the gospel message is both inclusive (God wants everyone to know him!) and exclusive (God’s offer of salvation comes to the world through Jesus alone!).

During the ICF Delft service, children leave for their own Bible teaching at Treasure Seekers part-way through the service, after the kids song, and rejoin for the final song of the service.  Tor thhe creche room is also available for 0-2 year olds.

Fose not attending ICFD in person, we’ll continue to send materials by email.

This week the kids’ Bible passage is Genesis 12:1-7 and Galatians 3:6-14.  The Big Idea is that God’s promise to build a nation of blessed people through Abraham is fulfilled when people trust in Jesus, the Seed of Abraham. Here is a video which tells the story and explains it.

The kids’ song is: As Far as East is from the West (So Great Is Jesus’ Love).

The memory verse is Psalm 67:1-2:

“May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine on us, so that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.” [NIV]
