In Between Two Worlds – part 4

Imagine the morning described in Ruth chapter four.

A blazing sun comes up and breaks the chill of the previous night. Perhaps a faint haze of dust from the winnowing of grain obscures the view of the distance, but gives assurance that the Lord has provided. The harvest was good. We will have life restoring food, at least for another year.

The residents of Bethlehem began to go about their humdrum daily routines, totally oblivious to what was about to happen. While rubbing sleep and gritty dust from their eyes, they could hardly know what they were about to witness with those eyes. Or what their ears would hear.

Quickly, word began to spread, almost like wildfire!

“Boaz came in from the fields and sat down at the gate! Something’s up! What’s happening! Let’s go find out!”

They knew it was a momentous day in their little town of Bethlehem. It was not a sabbath day. It was a business day. Nevertheless, it was truly a set apart day, a holy day in that sense, as the Lord takes another step toward fulfilling His plans, His promises. He would not only provide seed for the feeding of His people, He would provide the seed of the woman for the ultimate redemption of His people.

This Sunday, chapter four of Ruth. Spread the Word. What’s happening? Come and find out!

TREASURE SEEKERS

King Saul was rejected by God because he would not heed God’s commands.  This week at ICF Delft’s Treasure Seekers, the kids will see how God chose another to be king, one who would humbly obey.  Explorers and Discoverers groups will join together, at the room at the far end of the New Church building.  All primary-age children are welcome!

Lesson Title: ChosenText: 1 Samuel 16:1-13Big Idea: Samuel anointed David, a young shepherd boy, as God’s chosen king because God had rejected disobedient Saul.Aim: To teach that God chooses those who seem weak on the outside and gives them his Spirit to achieve his purposes.
