This Sunday Pastor Rene van Loon will be preaching and the theme of the preaching will be “Who pays the tax?” and the bible reading will be Exodus 30: 11-16 and Matthew 17: 24-27.

Jesus meets the collectors of the yearly temple tax. They ask the tax also from Him. But the temple is His Father’s house, should He pay then? Isn’t the Son free from paying for His Father’s property? Jesus doesn’t want to make trouble with the tax collectors. But He also wants to show his disciples that He really is the Son. In what way does He solve this problem? It turns out to be a surprising way… which has an important message in it for us!
