At the heart of the Christian faith stands the cross. Jesus died on a cross. A cursed death. The criminal’s death. And it was no accident that Jesus died there. It was on purpose. Jesus announced it several times beforehand. Neither were it Jesus’ followers who began to make sense of this cruel death afterwards. Beforehand Jesus already explained why this would happen. Once you begin to perceive who Jesus was and why it was that he died at the cross, it may really overwhelm you completely, touch your heart and change your mind and your whole life.
